In an article this week, Hannah Brown for the Cambridge News highlights concerns about water supply in relation to future development in Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire. The article reports on public feedback to proposals for a Joint Local Plan to guide future developments in the area.
It is clear from the article that the main concern of our local councillors is that water supplies to the area may prove inadequate to support the amount of development envisaged, though it is reported that “the Environment Agency and Natural England had raised concern about whether the growth proposed could be sustainable without causing further deterioration to the water environment”. At best, the wording indicates a grudging acknowledgement that damage has already been caused.
